A weekend of markets Mon, Jun 20. 2011
We had a great weekend attending a couple of markets in the local area. We are trying to go to more events and markets to get bread from the loaf available more widely. We have been going to Matlock Farmers' Market for the last six months and this Saturday it was great to see Tim Sidaway from Garden Farm Riber as a new stall holder. All the usual stalls were there too with Alan from Derbyshire Smokery who supplies our delicious smoked fish products for the deli, and Helen from Country Kitchen and Crafts who makes our jams and chutneys.

The Matlock Farmers' Market takes place on the third Saturday of every month and is held in the Imperial Rooms. There is more information on the Matlock Town Council website.
Then on Sunday I took bread, cakes and deli products up to Baslow for the Baslow Food Fair. It was great to meet lots of new customers and to see some familiar faces too. It was also nice to meet some new traders including the Staffordshire Cheese Company and Leek Brewery who supply us with cheeses, Lorna from Heavenlies and Glynne from the Fruit and Herb company near Heanor with a delicious range of oils and dressings which we will look to source for the deli shelves soon.

The Baslow Food Fair is organised by Hartingtons Ltd and more information about future fairs is on their blog. We hope to be able to attend this fair regularly too.
