...when we grow into the next phase of our baking life. Today we are knocking through in to the next door building and are moving all of the bakery equipment into a shinyly refurbished premises with acres of space. We are moving the ovens (!), mixers, prover, work benches, flour and all of the baking equipment.
Two days ago, this is what the new bakery looked like...
This is Darren from Pentalpha starting to make an oven-sized hole. We have measured quite a few times and have about 15mm of spare!!
The bakery doors were painted the other day:
And doesn't the old bakehouse look smart compared to a couple of weeks ago. The landlord has also been putting in a lot of work...sandblasting, painting gutters and windows, putting in some nice wooden posts.
High time I did a quick update on progress with the bakery expansion. As is always the case with Ian's Pentalpha crew, thinks are moving fast. The destructive, messy work is long finished. All the rendering, painting and some of the joinery is done. And the first fix electric and plumbing work is in. We finally got the various companies involved in reconnecting the electricity supply to sort out power so that is ready for action too. I think this is why Ian, Darren and Neil are looking so relaxed in this photo...
It's a good job though - we will be baking in there in exactly 7 days time!
Not sure my nephew, Woody was that impressed with progress in 'The Bakehouse' training room though! With the first couple of courses nearly fully booked, I think there is work to be done here!
