Brunch Specials at the loaf
After a few comments from customers and many suggestions, we have started making brunch specials in the cafe as an alternative to the dish of the day... as we thought it's time we showed our breakfast club some more love!
Eggs and mushrooms... but with a bit of pezaz
Two poached eggs on a bed of fried chestnut mushrooms, with garlic and fresh basil all on a toasted brioche bun... oh and a dollop of sour cream and chives
The alternative breakfast
Two fried eggs with roast cherry tomatoes, avocado and rocket seasoned with chilli, ime zest and corriander, this one is certainely one to kick off your day the right way!
Shakshouka
Inspired by a morrocon recipe we came across in our spare time here at the loaf, this is spicy chorizo with red onions, roast peppers and tomatoes, chipotle chilli, paprika and corriander... and of course we've topped it with a baked egg !
New year... new pizzas Fri, Jan 26. 2018
New year, new pizzas!
Every Wednesday evening, we open our doors for our weekly pizza night, where we make authentic, stone baked 11" pizzas fresh to order. Here at loaf HQ, we took some time over Christmas to review our menu and bring in some new combinations and toppings to really kick off 2018.
Last night, we saw the first few of our brand new pizzas come out of the oven... but what are they?
Carciofo
Meaning 'Artichoke' in Italian (oh how fitting I know) this pizza is made up of the following fresh ingredients: Ham, Artichoke hearts, pesto, sun-blushed tomatoes, Goat’s cheese and mixed herbs. The comments we had about this new kid on the block generally went along the lines of 'wow' and ‘that is absolutely fantastic'.
We had just as much fun coming up with some of these pizzas as some of you did trying them!
Pollo e avocado
Here, we switched up the Pollo pizza from our original menu (oh how we love to break the rules), and swapped out the wilted spinach for freshly sliced avocado! Yes I know it sounds a bit out there, but just bear with us here; this subtle and satisfying pizza is topped with the following: sliced roast chicken, fresh avocado, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and fresh herbs. We had a few adventurous customers dabble with this last night and were very very impressed. It’s definitely one to watch!
Vegetarian Calzone
A staff favourite, we wanted to offer a veggie option for the mighty Calzone! Onion, sliced beetroot, chard, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella with mixed herbs all packed into the classic folded pizza; this is a wonderful combination of flavours and is ever so vibrant in colour. Our very own front of house pizza connoisseur, Andy, said “It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had!”
Wednesday night is pizza night!
We’re very happy to have pizza night back up and running after a short break over Christmas (doesn’t it seem so long ago?). And we would love it if you were to let us do the cooking for you on a Wednesday, so get yourself booked in or order a takeaway! We have 6pm and 8pm sittings in the café; (don’t forget, it’s BYOB) and you can collect pizza to take away from 5:45-9PM.
it's always a good idea to keep up-to-date on what we are up to- and let us know what you think of our new pizzas! so give us a follow on Facebook page and our Twitter for the latest updates of what we're up to!
Christmas products: What are we baking? Tue, Dec 5. 2017
As yuletide approaches, so do our Christmas products. Here at the loaf, we will be bringing you a very wide range of festive treats
So, what’s in the oven?
Fig bread
Made using our very popular light rye dough, and delicious with cheese.
Apricot and walnut sourdough
With a heartier crust than the fig bread, this also goes well with cheese but is a great partner for a hearty winter soup.
Cranberry, oat and apple sourdough
Made with fresh cranberries it is a tart, savoury bread that literally 'bleeds' with the juice of the cranberries.
Marzipan stolen
Made small and medium for customer sale, or can be made large for use in cafés to slice and toast (oh how the marzipan caramelises in the toaster!)
Christmas puddings
Christmas puddings using Andrew’s family recipe are now available from the shop and we will be selling them at the markets we attend (check out our website for where we are when!). These cakes are deliciously dark and gently spiced with fresh apple and carrot in the recipe, giving them a moistness that adds to their flavour, the perfect way to round of a Christmas meal and save yourself a job whist you’re at it. they are available in three sizes; small (1-2 people), medium (3-4 people) and large (6-8 people)
Also from a family recipe, our Mince Pies are now available daily. We made our own mincemeat a couple of months ago using English Bramley apples and not-so-English Brandy and pride ourselves in our all-butter pastry
Christmas bread orders
if you would like to place bread orders over the festive period (recommended) then simply download a bread order form
it's always a good idea to keep up-to-date on what we are up to- especially over the festive period ! so give us a follow on Facebook page and our Twitter for the latest updates of what we're up to!
